Its that time of year that evokes so many emotions, memories, and anticipation in us all. What time are we referencing you ask; back to school time, of course!

For children it is a bittersweet time. On one hand you get to be with all of your friends and peers, meet new friends, learn new things, and have new experiences. On the other hand, you say goodbye to summer adventures, freedom, and summer living.

For parents it is a time to help prepare your children to get back into a routine, be prepared for school, and get ready for another year of milestones.

For many parents today you can look back to preparing for your first day back to school, and your biggest worry was about what you were wearing, was your backpack the right brand, and did you have a pencil. Though these things have not changed for our children, they have added the element of technology to the mix. Children are now concerned about weather or not they have the right cell phone, tablet, laptop, apps, software, etc. In addition teachers and staff are working hard to bring in the best technology for your children, and to give them the best learning experience possible.

I bring this up not to worry you, or add something for you to stress about, but as an opportunity to help empower your child to learn in a way that works for them, you, and their teachers.

With technology being a major part of our daily lives, and our children being digital natives, it makes perfect sense for our children to have regular access to technology in the classroom. More and more schools are making the shift to digital text books, online grading and communication portals, teachers having websites for their classrooms, schools utilizing social media, and generally integrating technology into the daily fabric of our children’s and our lives.

Here at iCreate to Educate we are clearly in support of integrating technology into the classroom, providing students a new way to share their ideas, and providing them a platform for digital storytelling. That said we realize that this is just one aspect of students education.
