I’m Not Spacey… I’m Creative!
SAM increases students’ ability to link observation with scientific ideas
One of the learning curves that an entrepreneur endures is achieving a level of comfort in pitching your idea to a room full of devil’s advocates. Yes, it sounds brutal, and no wonder that there are now shows such as Shark Tank (US) and Dragons’ Den (UK) that banks on the entertainment value of watching eager entrepreneurs walk into a ring of fire.
When people ask me what I would have done differently in starting iCreate there’s usually not enough time in the day to share, but one that tops the list is applying for every opportunity to pitch — just to practice, practice, practice!
I’m now on the Advisory Board for SXSW V2Venture 2014, particularly focused on the education sector, and am tasked with finding and encouraging early stage companies to apply! The deadline is fast approaching (April 11th, 2014), so I’ve highlighted the details below and encourage anyone with a startup product/company in education to enter. Even if it’s just for the practice!
