Toys, Tech, and Fun! What Gets You Excited to Learn?
Southbank Centre: Being present in the present
Is your creativity hibernating?
A few weekends ago, we were hanging out with some of our friends. We like to get together to play board games like Cranium, Scategories, Pictionary and Trivial Pursuit. This night we decided to play a new game, Lego’s Creationary.
This game is similar to Pictionary but instead of drawing you use various LEGO pieces to create an object for your team to guess. This took our creativity to the next level. We now had to think of the object as three dimensional instead of one dimensional. This game was very difficult for most of us because we don’t use our creative side daily. I feel lucky because, working at iCreate, I often get to use my creativity. In our day to day jobs we don’t have time or the freedom be creative, for the most part. As Melissa mentioned in her previous post, even something as simple as coloring gives your brain a break.
This got me thinking, while I know some people get the “creative” gene and others don’t… But are we allowing our creativity to hibernate because we don’t have time to wake it up?
I challenge you to find something creative to achieve this weekend. It might be painting that wall you’ve been meaning to get to or completing that project you posted on Pinterest. Whatever it is, have fun and give your creative side time to wake up!
