HUE Animation Studio in the Home School Environment

Top Homeschooling 2015It’s difficult to pinpoint exactly how many children around the world are being home schooled, but estimates for the US alone claim approximately 1,770,000 children (or 3.4% of the school aged population) are learning at home.  There are numerous websites and blogs to help parents who choose this method of education for their children, one of which is Homeschool.com, a site that is chock-full of information.  Here you’ll find everything from printable curricula to local homeschooling support groups.

Homeschool.com recently reviewed the HUE Animation Studio and stated, “Homeschooled children can develop and demonstrate their understanding of STEM and the 21st century skills of collaboration, creativity, critical thinking, and problem solving, all while having fun!”

Nancy Toups, owner of eLearning k12, agrees.  Toups plans to have HUE Animation Studios in her activity centers where home schooled children can come to work together on projects.  She says that the students can learn a specific subject matter while simultaneously developing technology skills.  In addition, the HUE Animation Studio can be used as an assessment tool while fostering creativity.

Toups’ students will make a stop-motion film to answer three review questions, and they will post their videos to a website they create.  “They love learning this way,” states Toups.  “This is a way more interesting way to learn both content and technology skills, and it’s a terrific way to assess what they are learning.”

Toups plans to share some of the videos her students make.  “Stay tuned,” she says.
