We are delighted to share the news that HUE will be hitting the road this March and heading to beautiful Palm Springs for the 2024 Spring CUE EdTech Conference.  

If you are attending too, join us at the HUE Animation Playground in the Spring CUE Main Lobby. Our Creative Learning team will be delivering hands-on stop motion workshops and sharing tips, tricks, and ideas to animate the curriculum with the HUE Animation Studio kit and HUE HD Pro document cameras.

Animation in education

Many schools already use animation as a method of teaching. It is a visual and tactile medium that is perfect for engaging, motivating, and getting across new concepts to children. It is also considered to be highly beneficial for people with varying abilities and complex educational needs. 

Stop motion animation is not only popular in school makerspace areas. It is used as a tool to teach STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics) subjects and it can also enhance project-based learning right across the curriculum, transforming lessons into exciting and memorable experiences.

Whether you are completely new to stop motion animation or a seasoned pro, our knowledgeable team will provide a range of activities that will include, but not be limited to:

Animate Squash & Stretch

Learn the basic principles of animation with our easy-to-follow animation templates based on key theories and teachings introduced by Disney animators Ollie Johnston and Frank Thomas in their 1981 book, The Illusion of Life. The first activity in the series, Squash & Stretch, is available to download from the resources page on the HUE website. 

Pizza Topping Fractions

Grab a slice of the animation action with our truly delicious Pizza Topping Fractions activity. Combining animation with math provides a fun and creative way for students to show what they know with manipulatives. 

Time-lapse mastery

Learn how to set up a time-lapse photography project to reveal fascinating processes that occur too slowly for our eyes and brains to process such as plant growth, chemical reactions, or insect metamorphosis.
