SXSWedu Panel by iCreate, LearnBop, & Flocabulary

For years SXSW has been debuting fabulous musicians at their annual March festival in Austin, and recently the event has become the go-to debut for new tech startups like Twitter and Zaarly (some more successful than others…)

That said, it’s only natural for the Education sector, which has become a booming area of interest for entrepreneurs and investors alike, to jump on the energy and publicity SXSW offers. Enter SXSWedu, the latest and hottest (literally, in the heart of Texas!) conference to network, present, and pitch for education technology startups. This conference certainly has a different vibe than the likes of ISTE’s, IRA’s, NSTA’s… No standing long hours in a fluorescent flooded convention center trying to use any “freebie” tactic possible to drag teachers in to your booth and pitch your product. No, this is a very different type of conference… designed for learning, sharing, and well, maybe a little bit of fun in Austin!

We have an incredible line-up for a proposed panel at SXSWedu, with rockstar edupreneurs from LearnBop and Flocabulary, and the founder of a successful charter school – The Garden School for the Technology Arts. The four of us came together to offer a panel on “Getting your product adopted by schools and colleges” — and we’re stoked!

Part of the process of getting our panel accepted includes votes by the community. So below I’ve highlighted the panel description, along with questions we intend to answer, and a bit of background about each of the rockstars!

Panel Description:

Entrepreneurs in education often face the challenge of figuring out how to bring their product to market. This panel will focus specifically on helping entrepreneurs develop a game plan for identifying those tech friendly educators in schools that will help develop a successful case study for future marketing collateral that can be used to acquire new customers or new pilot customers. Entrepreneurs attending this session will learn a few insider tricks to help build a solid customer base from which to launch a business with the support of the education community.

      Questions Answered:

How do I identify the tech advocates in the education community or at a specific school?

What is a potential way to structure a pilot so that its most productive for my customer and my company?

How do I find out who will be paying for my service?

    Rockstar Panelists Accompanying me:

Bharani Rajakumar – Co-founder of Learnbop, a cloud-based interactive platform for math, that allows kids to solve problems as experts would.

Vlad Gutkovich – Director of K-12 Partnerships for Flocabulary, an online library of media to engage kids in content.

Shane Vander Kooi – Founder of Garden School for Technology Arts, a charter school in West Palm, FL designed to prepare and equip young innovators with the 21st century skills they need in order to succeed in the international community and global economy.

Voting ends Sept 19th, so if you can take some time to cast your vote, that would be awesome! VOTE HERE.
