Teaching the Life Cycle of a Butterfly with HUE HD Pro Document Camera

Photo Stacy Payne

In our “Teachers Extraordinaire” series, Stacy Payne is a stand-out!  Stacy has been teaching kindergarten for more than ten years at Austin Elementary School in Austin, Indiana.  She is also is the creator of the popular blog Mrs. Payne’s Kinderkids.  Stacy and her husband have two young girls, so this is one busy teacher!  Still Stacy recently managed to share her blog post of how she used the HUE HD Pro document camera in a lesson on the life cycle of a butterfly.

In Stacy’s blog post, she introduces the Painted Lady butterfly kit and the HUE HD Pro document camera, explaining how the document camera has transformed the students’ ability to observe the life cycle.  There are photos and a wonderful video of a butterfly emerging from a chrysalis!  Take note of how Stacy uses the “image capture on movement” feature of the HUE HD Pro document camera to bring her lesson to life (no pun intended)!

The students don’t miss anything because the HUE HD Pro is there to snap images and video record the entire process–even when the students are home sleeping!

Stacy says “I’m thankful this device allowed us the opportunity to capture events that we never would have been able to see!”

And HUE is thankful to Stacy for sharing this story with us!

Thank you, Stacy, for this wonderful post and lesson idea!
